Knee pain physiotherapy in south London, Kent and Essex

Knee pain is one of the most common reasons runners, footballers and lifters stop training. Whether it came on gradually or after a twist or tackle, the right rehab builds the knee back up so it can handle the work you want to do.

Common problems I see

  • Pain at the front of the knee when squatting, kneeling or on stairs
  • Patellar tendon pain from jumping or running
  • Ligament sprains, including ACL and MCL injuries
  • Meniscus irritation and clicking or catching
  • Rehab after knee surgery

How I help

  • Assessment of the knee, hip and ankle, as all three share the load
  • Testing to identify ligament, tendon or joint involvement
  • Load management so you can keep active without flaring it up
  • Strength work for the quads, hips and calves
  • Return to running and sport testing before you go back

When to get urgent help

Seek urgent medical advice if your knee locks and will not straighten, swells rapidly after an injury, cannot take weight, or becomes hot, red and swollen with a fever.

Questions about knee pain

Should I stop running?

Not always. Many knee problems respond well to reducing load rather than stopping completely. Your plan sets clear limits so you know what is safe.

Can you help after ACL surgery?

Yes. I work through each stage of ACL rehab, from early range of movement to strength and return to sport testing.

Will I need a knee support?

Sometimes for short term comfort, but strength is what protects the knee long term.
